Ball screw linear actuators are used for the precise positioning of workpiece carriers and for converting a rotary movement into a linear movement or vice versa. The ball screw linear actuator is used as the drive element for the linear movement, while the threaded spindle is the driven element. They are therefore mainly used in machine tools. In the past, trapezoidal screws were used in machines, but nowadays they have been almost completely replaced by ball screw linear actuators.
